What is a Fuzzy Search
Posted by Stewart Shram on 21 March 2012 02:30 PM

Fuzzy Searching is the technique of finding information that match a pattern approximately (rather than exactly).

For Example :

  • insertion: test > tests
  • deletion: tests > test
  • substitution: test > tent

If a person running a search on the Financial Sanctions Tool miss spells an individuals/company name, it may be an approximate match against someone on either of the list.

The System is set to a 70% margin of being correct, you can not individually set this for your company or users, this is a global setting to make sure everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet.
